KIRKLAND, Wash. – Kirkland’s Public Works Department will be closing the south entrance of Holmes Point Drive in the Finn Hill neighborhood on Friday, August 26, so that work can begin to reduce the height of leaning trees—mostly alder and fir—along 76th Place Northeast also known as Holmes Point Drive. Crews will trim leaning trees near the south entrance to the Holmes Point community off Holmes Point Drive. Residents will be able to enter the Holmes Point community via the Holmes Point Dr. north entrance. Tree work on the north entrance of the community will be done by Puget Sound Energy in October, according to their work plan.

Trimming work will protect the road guardrails, improve deadwood habitat called ecology snags and reduce the risk of trees falling along the roadway during winter storms.

The stumps and root systems will remain intact so that the hillside will remain stable. 

Kirkland’s staff has notified the surrounding community via message boards at the north and south entrance to the Holmes Point community.
